Episode: E1: A Historic Voyage
Location: Captain's Stateroom
Timeline: Date 2025-05-03 at 0600

Commander Lewes sat down at the desk in his small stateroom and began to read through the pile of dispatches that had come in while they were under the ice. The radio shack had taken the time to prioritize them to make sure he got the most important ones first before he released the various news items and other things that would be posted for all of the crew to see. There was also a commanding officer only message which he did his best to not peak at until he’d sat at the comfort of his desk. It had come in almost forty eight hours ago ten minutes wouldn’t make a difference.

He had taken a moment to grab some coffee from the wardroom before heading to work. It was nice that now safe from ice the ice tracking party had been secured and now he and the XO weren’t doing alternating twelve hour shifts in control.

"Holy shit," Lewes exclaimed, his coffee mug hitting his desk so hard that he was worried for a spill or a break. Luckily only a few drops hit his hand which hurt from the hot coffee but he brushed away on the legs of his coveralls. Suddenly there was a knock on the door and he sighed turning the dispatch with the message of terrorist attacks over so that it couldn't be seen by whoever entered.

"Enter," he called, facing the hatch.

"You alright sir?" LCDR Elizabeth Watts, the XO, said as she entered the stateroom leaving the hatch opened holding onto it with her right hand. The left hand braced against the bulkhead as the submarine began to tilt slightly adjusting course and depth as they started not their way to New York from the edge of the ice pack.

"Come in and shut the door," he said, motioning toward the chair beside his desk. He flipped the dispatches back over and handed her the one for the CO Eyes Only as she sat down.

Her mouth gaped as she read the dispatch and handed it back, "Department Head meeting?"

"Everyone but Finch," Lewes replied. "Get them in the wardroom and secure it."

"Aye sir," Liz said, already on her feet and heading for the hatch.

Lewes was glad to see that the replacement officers would be leaving them sooner or later. Loosing three officers although two were unqualified did provide for complications. Though at least one replacement would be qualified which would make things at least not get worse for the watch rotations. Hopefully the new Ensign would be a bit more high speed than their departing one.
